Baptism Form

WHY BE BAPTIZED?

  1. Because the Lord Jesus commanded it.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, nd teaching
them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

  2. To follow the example set by Jesus.

It came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Mark 1:9

  3. It demonstrates the outward obedience of the inward commitment I have made to follow Jesus.

Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 1John 2:3

  4. It is the biblical way of demonstrating that I really am a follower of Christ.

Then Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his household. And many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized. Act 18:8

WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZED?

Every person who has repented of their sins and have faith in Jesus Christ to save them from their sins.

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. he promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” Act 2:38-39

WHEN SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?

As soon as you have believed.
Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. Act 2:41

Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him.. Act 8:35-38

Baptism does not make you a believer; it shows that you already are a believer.

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF BAPTISM?

In the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, baptism symbolizes the burial.

Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:3-4

Baptism symbolizes our own death to sin and a new life in Christ. It symbolizes the inward cleansing and forgiveness of sin that we received in Christ.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR WHEN I AM BAPTIZED?

Journey Youth will provide a shirt for the baptism. All you’ll need to pack is a dark pair of shorts, towel and change of clothes for after the baptism. We encourage you to invite all your relatives and friends to attend your baptism.
